A tourist has to be in the right place at the right time to get a photo like that, whereas you are in the right place (Venice) all the time. You might have had only 5 or 10 minutes when the light was right - not too dark, not too light - and there was no vaporetto to block your view. You must have been on a boat of some sort - vaporetto, gondola or small dinghy (?) - so how did you get a steady shot?
